Today, i was listening to talk radio and someone called in to say that they think the British handled the hostage situation well. Within 5 seconds of the person talking, the radio host went off on a hate filled rant about what an "a-hole" (and that's a quote) this liberal jerk was. I couldn't believe it. The caller hadn't said anything that would convey whether he was liberal or conservative. He merely said that he agreed with the U.K.'s handling of the hostage crisis. This point of view was completely unacceptable to the talk show host. But oddly, rather than debating the issue or explaining to the caller why he disagreed, he simply went off on a rant against all stupid liberals.
Am I the only one who is very disturbed by this growing trend to bucket people as liberals and then to vilify them? Why are people unable to debate facts, share opinions and make suggestions without immediately putting the focus on whether or not someone is a liberal?
